A new year always brings something new but what about a new decade? Read all about what's happening in the first year of this decade.
The Olympics
The Olympics are held every 4 years.They are a huge sporting event where athletes from all across the globe compete to win the competition for their country. In the Olympics, there are all types of sports like javelin and gymnastics and lots of others. This year’s Olympics are going to be held in Tokyo.
Euro Cup 2020
This is another sporting event held every 4 years. However, this isn’t a mix of different sports, it’s just one sport - football. In the Euros, every European country takes part in this competition.
World War III
World War III is an event that may not happen but is close to happening now as Donald Trump assasinated Iran’s major general Qasem Soleimani. The war is not official but it is likely to happen. Like the last one, this wont be very pleasant.
Love Island
Love island is a TV programme all about couples and beauty. The point of the show is to get with another contestant and be the best couple and be voted by the fans to stay in the competition. It is shown every year, usually in the summer when they can make the contestants even better. They publish Youtube videos about the contestants before the show starts for everyone to get to know them.
Upcoming Films and TV Shows
The cinema is a very fun place to visit and is very exciting. This year there are some very interesting movies coming out from children’s movies like Trolls and Peter Rabbit to adult movies such as Birds of Prey to No Time to Die. There are films suitable for everyone, I'm going to tell you about some that are coming out in 2020 that may interest you.

This year, the follow-up of the James Bond will be coming out and it will possibly be the last. Every time there is a new movie, an artist will perform a song and this time the artist will be Billie Eilish and she says in news reports that a dream of hers for a while has been to write a Bond song.
Required Skills
In February, Birds of Prey is coming out. The movie is all about Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie but to be the character you need to have many skills such as being able to breath underwater as one of the first action scenes contains being able to breath underwater for 3 minutes!
Fantasy Island is based on a TV series and is set to become a new fantasy movie.
