Tom Palmer is the author of popular football series including ‘Foul Play’ and ‘Football Academy’, but now he’s producing something even more thrilling. If it wasn’t enough that this summer brings us all the excitement of the World Cup, Palmer is releasing a live book, following the events of the tournament. Defenders: Russia is about two school children, Seth and Nadiya. Not only is Seth a normal school boy, obsessed with the tournament, he also has a strange talent. He has mysterious historical visions and can talk to the dead. What will he do when a ghost threatens England's chances at winning against Tunisia?
“This was it. The World Cup. One month of football on the TV 24/7.
Then he saw a figure among the smiling flag-waving Russians.
A figure in a brown coat.
Not smiling.
Not waving a flag.
Staring straight back into Seth’s front room as the temperature dropped from warm to freezing cold and just as Rosa whined and pushed her way out of the door.”
If it’s not inspiring enough that this story is being written live, Palmer is even offering readers the chance to help him decide the next events in the story of Seth and Nadiya. Next week, he will offer three options for where the story might head. Readers will be able to vote for their favourite option. It’s like the X-Factor for stories!
Palmer will release an exciting new chapter every weekday during the tournament.
