TikTok is a video-sharing social networking and app which is used to make videos and have fun. There are videos you can watch which have been made by other people on the app. It has an age restriction 13 but younger children use it also. TikTok allows users to record 15-second videos and upload them for the world to see. The content varies from comedy sketches and dance routines to lip-syncing and pranks, it has spread like wildfire among younger audiences, particularly with the Generation Z population.
Some of the trends or people you can follow are:
E-boys and E-girls
A E-boy, who stereotypically has black painted nails, skates, wears black clothes, chains, beanies, as well as sometimes having their hair parted down the middle, is one of the “trends” going around on TikTok. An E-girl is a type of emo usually found on tiktok, but commonly spends time on tumblr. They can be found wearing pink eye shadow, with a large wing, little hearts under the eyes and a blushed nose.
VSCO Girls:
VSCO girls wear oversized t-shirts or sweatshirts, with Nike shorts. They typically own Vans, Crocs, Birkenstocks, and wear a shell necklace. They also wear tube tops and jean shorts. Vsco girls also own a Hydro Flask and wear a scrunchie.
My top 5 favourite trends from over years
They are:
Dance
2. E-girls
3. Memes
4. Edits
5. British chavas
Is TikTok safe? The app is frenetic in nature. Short videos will play automatically as users scroll through their feeds. And since many of the videos also contain music, it can be loud and disruptive. There is also the risk, like many social media sites, about the treats of older people, who may not be who they say they are.
However, Tik tok is a very fun app in my opinion, but you have to use it at your own risk and if you would like to download it, make sure your parents allow you and you have a private account.
