'The School Of Good And Evil' Review

By Isabelle Ferguson, Writer

The School for Good and Evil is an incredible book about two girls who are the most unlikely of friends.

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani is an incredible book about two girls - Agatha and Sophie - who are the most unlikely of friends. Agatha is always considered to be a witch because of her bug eyes and helmet black hair, and Sophie is considered to be the princess because of her beauty. They live in a small town called ‘Gavaldon’, and they both have different plans for their lives. Agatha wants to stay in her house on the graveyard with her mother, while Sophie dreams of being whisked away to a fairytale land and marrying a handsome prince.

In Gavaldon two children, one good and one bad, are kidnapped every 4 years, and are never seen again, except in the stories that mysteriously appear. In the middle of the night, Sophie and Agatha get taken to The School for Good and Evil, but nothing seems to be right. Evers and Nevers don’t like the new arrivals, but soon the two best friends discover their true identities, and problems emerge.

The School for Good and Evil is a wonderful book full of adventure, mystery, romance and magic. It shows that nobody is 100% Good or Evil, and that you should always value your friends. These books also show the fact that looks don’t determine you being Good or Evil - your actions do.

If you are a fan of Harry Potter, you would definitely love this book. Also, there is a current total of 6 books in the series, so there is plenty to read if you enjoy it. The full series follows the lives of Agatha and Sophie, as they venture through their lives, and the adventures they bring.

All in all, I would give this book 5 out of 5 stars because it is so enjoyable to read and it gives a lovely message about being yourself and always being loyal to those who need you.
