Music is an artistic form of auditory communication which combines the instrumental or vocal tones used and the sound produced by singers or musical instruments. The term “pop music” originated in Britain in the mid - 1950s as a description for rock and roll and the new youth music styles. Some of the most well known names in history are: The Beatles, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones and ABBA. Pop music has seen different styles over the years moving through the 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s etc…

Parlour music was popular music performed in the parlours of middle class homes by amateur singers and pianists. Sheet music was a big thing with pop music as it would bring families together. When pianos gave way to the phonograph around the beginning of the 20th century, popular renditions of music followed with them by the mid-1920s - a new music called jazz with a peculiar rhythm. Later, African derived art form music called “blues”, which soon helped transform music that was heard.

Pop music is generally described as very commercial friendly beat. The instruments usually used in pop music include: guitar, bass, piano, drums, amplifiers, cymbals, electric organs, electric pianos, electric keyboard, and polyphonic tape playback keyboard.
