Have you ever heard of a chicken without a head? Well, you're about to! Earth is a strange and scary place, with age old, and new mysteries every day. But when nature creates something that goes against everything we were taught, it leaves us wanting to hear more. So, this is how Mike the headless chicken came to be.
His Origins
One day on a small farm in Arizona, a farmer was killing his chickens to take to the market. When it was Mike's turn for death, the farmer struck him down. To his surprise, the chicken, although badly wounded, did not die.
March 17th 1945
On March the 17th 1945, Mike was found dead in his coop. Despite losing his head, he was fed a milk/water mixture, and enjoyed this every day. In fact, Mike survived for 18 months, without his head, “eating” this. But he didn’t live forever. Amazingly, his cause of death was not his missing head, but that he choked on a kernel of corn!

Did you know that every year in Colorado (August the 27th) they have a Mike the headless chicken day to honour this amazing and brave chicken that escaped death? Maybe you should celebrate this occasion too!
