For many years now, deforestation has been around. Since 1990, around about 420 million hectares of trees have been destroyed due to human activity. The needs as a population for trees and plants is highly underestimated. Due to the increase of humans we need trees now more than ever. Our energy needs are also rising rapidly and it's not only affecting us but plants and animals too.
Deforestation is a loss of trees, plants and other green areas. This is happening at an exponential rate and we need to stop it. We need the land for building homes and also land for more farming which means that more people have a job and can earn money but also that there is more food in the world. Also the timber can help fuel us around by car. There are also many other reasons that I could include.
Although we all highly appreciate that space and fuel are important for us as humans, it also has a knock on effect. These trees being chopped down means that the carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. This means that plants can’t therefore photosynthesise which means that there is less oxygen in the world for us to breathe in. This is called the greenhouse effect and will in the end make us have a worse future as there will be no humans left on earth.
Forest fires, sea levels rising, more rainfall, droughts. These are just a small amount of issues that are being created due to our needs. We are putting our world at danger. Forests can take years to rebuild and we might not have years to make this time back up. That is hideous, horrible and horrendous and needs to stop. At least reconsider your choices and plant more trees back where you have chopped them down in the past.
We as a world need to stop prioritising ourselves and think about our future long term. We only have one world and one chance so we need to make the most of it. Act now!
