Do you have mocks coming up? Is it stressing you out way too much? Try these tips and tricks to help manage the workload or the stress.
Firstly, make time for yourself. You don’t need to revise in all of your free time. Spend a day doing something you like or spending time with the people that matter to you. I often spend this time learning lines for a play I’m in or singing songs from my favourite musical.
Secondly, chunk the work in manageable sections. You can do this by taking one topic and splitting it into manageable chunks, maybe by subtopic. I do this by assigning subjects to days then saying I’m going to revise this topic this time then next time a different topic.
Thirdly, try rewarding yourself for any revision done. Even if it’s something small, it’s still revision done. Especially if you have little to no motivation. I would set up some type of reward system- maybe something that matters to me.
Fourthly, find a method that works for you. Whether it be the revision style or the breaks you take. Find something that works for you and your brain. I use Seneca for everything and I use Mathswatch for maths.
Fifth, specify a goal for the end of your revision. If you say “I’m going to revise xyz”, then that's too big a chunk of content. Try saying, “I’m going to revise x or y”. Trust me, it works well. I usually say I want to learn this plot and this plot (for history) or I want to learn this equation (for science or maths)
Finally, make sure you have plenty of breaks during revision and you eat as well. I often make this mistake and forget to eat then wonder why I can’t focus. Also, if you have your favourite snacks then eat those, you’ll feel much better.
I hope this helps everyone deal with mocks and stress/anxiety they can cause. I’m sure everyone will do amazing.
