How the three Star Wars prequel villains represented Darth Vader
The Star Wars prequels had a massive impact on the Star Wars franchise. For example, when they first came out, they were largely hated for making Star Wars creator George Lucas sell the franchise in 2013 to Disney. But recently however, people have started to praise the prequels after the disappointment of Disney’s Star Wars sequels. In this article I will be explaining how the three Star Wars prequel villains foreshadowed Anakin's turn to the dark side.
Darth Maul
Darth Maul had a huge impact on Anakin in The Phantom Menace, killing off Qui Gon Jinn who was like a father to Anakin and leaving Obi Wan to train him. Had Qui Gon survived, Anakin wouldn’t have turned to the dark side. In the prequels, Darth Maul represents the hatred Anakin has for his failure to defeat Obi Wan in Revenge Of The Sith and the hatred he had for himself.
Count Dooku
Count Dooku is arguably one of the most complex characters in Star Wars and played a massive role in the fall of the Republic. He was Darth Sidious's second apprentice and even had an apprentice of his own (Asajj Ventress) also taking on Savage Opress as an apprentice for a while. He represents the fallen Jedi in Anakin and how he was corrupted by the dark side.
General Grievous
General Grievous is the general of the Sepratist alliance and has led many of the attacks against the Jedi. He is also a Jedi killer who has no mercy on his opponents and has killed many Jedi in his lifetime. He finally was killed in the last moments of the Clone Wars by Obi Wan Kenobi. He only has his essential organs left after a planned attack on his ship by Dooku and Sidious who wanted to turn him into their servant. Grievous represents the transformation from organic to cyiborg when Anakin gets his iconic Vader suit.
