Ghosts - the most hauntingly good show?

By Katherine Doris

Ghosts is my favourite show as it is very humorous and makes new episodes often. It is a show that aired on the BBC and has gained 4.4 million views in the UK. The popular series is about a couple - known as Mike and Alison Cooper (played by Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe). The couple inherited a house from Alison's distant Aunt Heather. The house is haunted by nine bizarre ghosts, named Thomas, Mary, Kitty, Robin, Fanny, Humphrey, Julian, Pat, Captain and the many others who live in the basement.

Special abilities!

Some of the ghosts have unique abilities, Julian can touch or move anything; a young child, known as Jemima can be heard by everyone, Robin can flicker lights and Mary can make the room smell of smoke. Sometimes they can use the abilities to their advantage; Julian decided to mess with Mike when sending important messages and even pushed Allison out the window! But they can come in handy like in Season two episode five when a robbery occurred. The ghosts were on hand to notify Mike - but he can’t see the ghosts.

The deaths.

Of course, all of the ghosts are ghosts, they have died - some of the details surrounding their deaths are still unknown. Two of the unknown deaths are of the characters: Kitty and captain, which have no visible injuries that can link to their death. Meanwhile , the other deaths are quite obvious. It starts off with Robin, who died first. His friends were attacked by a bear, and when running up a tree for shelter, the tree was struck with lightning. Next to come along was Humphrey. Humphrey had died in Elizabethan times by accidental beheading. His friends (and his wife) were in an assassination plot, and in order to protect them he had to sacrifice himself. Fortunately, he died quickly by accidentally decapitating his own head in order to save them!

Behind the scenes!

Behind the scenes, six members of Horrible Histories ( Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-douglas, Jim Howick, Mathew Baynton, Ben Wilbond and Laurence Rickard) teamed up to create Ghosts in April 2019. In my opinion, I would recommend this for those 12+ and for people who like comedy. I also rate the show 5 stars.
