An update from our newest footballers:
The Year 7 boys have already shown that they are a promising squad with a good start against Ashington in the English Schools National Cup and then the boys played Excelsior in the Wilk’s County Cup with an easy win. Next it was back to the National Cup against Kingsmeadow but unfortunately to a late goal the boys were knocked out of the National Cup. After that the boys were back to winning ways as they beat Whitrig in a friendly and moved into the Quarter-Finals of the Wilk’s County Cup with a win against Chantry Middle School. Our boys have been successful in all the games that they have played with 4 wins out of 5.
The team consists of 15 players with different experiences from Saturday and Sunday leagues to a few Academy players. The team have really gelled well so now Mr Steanson has decided to make a 2nd team to ensure all the boys can play. The team’s next big game is against Ponteland Middle School in the Milk’s County Cup Quarter-finals.
Other highlights of the Autumn term for CLV Sport includes:
-The incredible Camryn Bulman won the Close House Golf under 18s British Masters tournament.
-CLV Sport raised over £1000 following their summer race for life at CLV. Well done to all involved. Look out for details of this year's race at our place later in the year.
-Jemima Furness won the Year 11 girls county indoor rowing championships in December and is through to the next round.
-Ex-CLV students are also showing some outstanding football performances. Dan Lowther is performing well for the South Shields Academy, scoring four goals in an amazing 8-2 win over Darlington in December. Dan Burn, an ex-student currently playing for Wigan Athletic, was awarded Sky Bet League One Player of the Month in December.
