Christmas, the nation’s favorite time of the year. But, is it too early to celebrate the festive season? Read on for more information.
Many traditionalists have different opinions on when that famous tree should make an appearance. Some traditions believe that your tree should go up at the start of advent which is 4 Sundays before Christmas. Other traditions put the evergreen up 12 days before Christmas. Traditionally the Romans put up their Christmas trees on the afternoon of Christmas Eve but the beginning of December is the most popular date nowadays.
Many things in our world have the festive mode turned on during the winter months such as decorations in public places, Christmas markets and carol services. When should this happen though? Many believe that this should happen in the beginning of December but some of us think that mid October is a suitable time for our own household trees. Christmas-lovers often put up their tree early. As the song goes, “It's the most wonderful time of the year” and really why wouldn’t you want to start celebrating something so incredible, as early as possible.
Another point for not putting the tree up so early is that being around it more may make you lose that much-needed Christmas spirit, or even become sick of the decorations. Some believe that putting up a Christmas tree before December is unlucky and could seem like Scrooge around anything festive.
Personally, I think that Christmas trees should go up on the 1st of December, no earlier or later. As always, many people have different opinions and some may not agree with others, but let’s remember it’s the most wonderful time of the year so it’s definitely something many people will do and often will celebrate in a different way.
