Some facts about this Queen
Queen Elizabeth the First was Anne Boylen’s daughter. When Elizabeth was two, her mother died by an execution arranged by her father, King Henry the Eighth. He ordered a skilled French swordsman to chop off her head.
Growing up
She had a half sister, Mary Queen of Scots. Mary would die from an unknown illness, suspected to be cancer. Elizabeth had a total of 4 step mothers in her life so I would say Elizabeth had a tough childhood. Some were kind to her such as Catherine Howard however Jane Seymore was often unkind to Elizabeth because she had a son who became Henry’s pride and joy.
Parents
Anne Boylen was her mother for 2 and a half years until her tragic death. The reason Anne was executed is because she had a girl and NOT a boy! Henry said that he wanted a strong boy to rule after him however the son passed away at age 14 meaning Elizabeth became Queen instead. Her father, King Henry the VIII was known for his 6 wives and their deaths, except Catherine Parr who was alive as he laid on his deathbed at age 55.
Death
Queen Elizebth died on 24th March 1603, she died of blood poisoning. She died at Richmond Palace in London.
