Ryan Parsons
Ryan Parsons shares his love of boxing.
Boxing is a sport that is popular around the whole of the UK. It is a great way to help children all over the world to keep fit. It teaches you confidence, respect, resilience and determination. I train at the Fire Station in Cramlington where there are many coaches working with the Northumberland Fire and Rescue Boxing Academy who not only teach you how to box, but also discipline. You will be introduced to Tony and Tim, who are the head coaches, and they will help you to get started on your boxing journey.
The benefits of boxing
Boxing has a lot of benefits for young people like you, especially when you can train at a local club. It's also an opportunity to make new friends. It keeps you fit and gives you something to do on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday as it is not open on Thursday. The junior class is from 6-7pm whilst the adult class is from 6.30-8pm.
Age range
Anyone can join the club to train, from age 8 upwards. When you start boxing you will be in a junior class to develop your skills. Once you become more advanced you are put in the senior class where you are trained more professionally .
Where is it and how much is it?
The boxing academy trains at the fire station and it is £1 per session per person. The academy is busy fundraising for new equipment and you can support their events when you visit.
