Climate change was discussed in 1896, but it was a problem even before that. As we know, climate change is destroying iced areas like the North Pole and the South Pole. Can we, as a community, stop climate change?
Well, the first thing that we can do is travel by car less, because it gives off gas which harms the planet. So, say you were going to the shop, why don’t you walk? It is much better for the planet. Another thing that is really harming the planet is food waste. Also remember to turn your light off when you leave the room. These are all little things that we as a committee can do to help the planet survive climate change.
Another thing that is happening to the planet is plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is harming our planet because it is making a lot of plastic in the ocean and seas. As well as this, plastic pollution kills a lot of our sea animals like fish, sea turtles, toothed whales and crabs, to name a few. The reason why these animals are getting killed is because we are littering a lot of plastic, such as plastic bottles, which means that when it is windy, it falls into the sea and hurts the animals. So what can we do to stop plastic pollution? Well, we can stop using plastic things or if you do then recycle it.
Here is another thing that harms plants: cutting down trees, which also harms animals as well as the planet. Both humans and animals need trees for oxygen, and without them then we would not be alive. When we are cutting trees down, we are taking an animal home. Why do we cut trees down? Well, we cut them down for paper to write on. Next to you are writing in your book, remember that it could have been an animal's home. Another reason why we cut down trees is for palm oil, which is for many things like soap and shampoo. So what can we do to help? We can use less paper and buy products that contain no palm oil in its ingredients.
