On just her 45th day in office, Liz Truss has resigned as PM after weeks of economic disaster and in-party fighting. The news follows the chaotic scenes which unfolded in Parliament yesterday as Conservative MPs argued passionately with one another amid accusations of "manhandling" and the resignation of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary.
In what has undoubtedly a shambolic and short-lived premiership, Liz Truss now leaves the job with little sympathy from the British public, the Opposition or even her own Cabinet. She is the briefest serving PM in British history.
